Would it be too much like Coraline if my main character challenges the villain to a game?
I'm in the middle of planning and writing a children's story with a dark theme like Coraline. Right now, my ten year old main character is being held captive by the villain who is older than her. This male villain wants her soul(Er, in a totally non-romantic way. He needs it to live forever. This is explained in the story). I was thinking, as a way to distract him, she could challenge him to a game. Since Coraline played a 'game' with the Other Mother, would it be too similar if my main character tried it too? Thanks for your opinions.
