Pre lightener has made my reddish dark brown hair go orange! help!?

easy ten points..... i have just dyed it and had a disaster trying to go a shade lighter and get the red out, what shall i do to get it choc brown dark or light without any green?! im dying it at home so no suggestions saying go to the salon! :)
